The Eucharist is the cornerstone of all other sacraments since Christ is present body, blood, soul, and divinty under the species of bread and wine. It is through our frequent, reverent reception of the Eucharist that we are intimately united with our Lord and all the faithful. Only a bishop or priest can consecrate the Eucharist, however, a deacon or designated extraordinary minister can assist in distribution.
